Wednesday June 5

June 5, 2019

We are counting down! Grades 1 & 2 have an alphabet count down to the end of the year! Beginning with the letter Aa, each day is represented by a letter. Today’s letter is “N”. 1st grade will create nice notes for people and 2nd grade will bring in new words to share! We are quickly getting to “Z”!
6th grade had their annual Egg Drop today and the rest of the school cheered them on! Impressively, 9 students created containers for their eggs that withstood the drop from the top floor! Check out Instagram for pictures.
There are so many activities happening between now and the end of the year that I fear I will leave something out! Check out the back of this newsletter for an end of the year “save the date”.
Looking ahead to next year, we have some very exciting things going on! As this year finishes, we will be getting a new roof! Thanks to the Our Lady of Lourdes Church community, it was decided that our roof will be the first project completed in the capital campaign!
Also, a big “thank you” to all of you for your many financial donations! We will be purchasing Chromebooks for our school to replace all of the desktops in our classrooms as well as a class set for use in the 5th and 6th grades! Things are looking good!
We are also looking into starting our Maker-Space as part of our W.I.N. program! A Maker-Space is a collaborative workspace where students will work together on outside of the classroom long term projects!

Our annual end of the year Used Uniform Sale is again scheduled for the Primary Field Day, June 11thfrom 9:00-3:00. Our chair people, Ginny Krutell and Meg Montgomery are busy collecting uniforms for the sale. Come in to pick up your uniforms for next year!
As a reminder: the last school uniform day is Friday June 7!

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the 17th Annual Seton Open Golf Tournament!
Thank you to Christina Thrall and Mariah DiMarco and their committee for putting together such a fun event. Everyone had a great time!

Our annual Flag Day Service will be held on Friday June 14th at 9:15. Students will be allowed to wear red, white & blue dress-down clothing.
Following the service, we will have a “Thank You” Brunch for our many volunteers. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

FIELD DAY is approaching! Grades K-3 will have their Field Day festivities on Tues., June 11th on our side lawn.
K.& 1st grade field day events will run from 9-11am.
2nd & 3rd grade field day event will run from 12:00-2:00PM.
Grades 4-6 will go to Cobbs Hill Park on Wed., June 12th to participate. They will leave the school at 8:30 to head over to the park and stay until 1:00pm to return to the school. All students will be walking to the Cobbs Hill Park from the school and will NEED TO BRING A LUNCH.

Willy Wonka Jr will be performed by our grades 3-6 students here in our café-gym-atorium THIS WEEK- Thursday June 6- Saturday June 8th! Come share this wonderful event. Our children have been working so hard to prepare a stellar performance!

On Friday, June 14th from 7:30-8:00am, grades k-2 students will have a chance to say thank you to their dads/special friends. It’s a wonderful primary grade only event! Grades 3-6 are asked to please be considerate of our younger students and their guests and to only use the front stairway to go upstairs in the morning.

Sr. Carolyn has asked me to remind you that the last hot lunch date for this year is June 14! After that you will need to provide lunch for your child every day.

First Communion Mass
This Friday is our last school mass. As is the tradition, our 2nd graders are the leader for this special occasion. They will all come dressed in their first Communion clothing or their special dress up clothes and lead us in a lovely service. Following the mass they will treat their parents to a Communion Breakfast in the gym.

In Remembrance of Mark Cook
Friday’s mass is also when we will remember former Seton Parent, Mark Cook. Mark was instrumental in our CYO Program and the Little Angels program. He was a constant volunteer here when his children attended Seton. We pray for his family and know that Seton was a better place because of him.
There is a go-fund-me page for Mark’s family if you would like to send them some support. Below is the link. https://www.gofundme.com/inmemory-of-the-late-great-mark-cook
